WHERE DO I CHECK IN FOR THE FIRST TIME?

Check in for all players is located at Logistics (cabin F). When you arrive on site please bring your sleeping gear or bag with you as our first goal will be to make sure you have a bed. Once that's resolved, we'll get you set up with our New Player Marshal for character creation, questions and to get you starter item cards.

DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN PHYS REPS FOR WEAPONS?

Yes, you need to bring your own combat safe weapons. All weapons will be checked for safety by a team member ahead of time.

WHERE'S A GOOD SITE TO GET BOFFER/LATEX WEAPONS?

There are several sites where you can order boffer/latex weapons. Medieval Collectibleshas a range of latex weapons to choose from (the foam-injected weapons sometimes do not pass safety, so please steer toward latex weapons). We also have a variety of crafters who can help you out on the Facebook group, Dystopia Rising Crafting Group.

HOW MANY BEDS ARE THERE?

The site has beds for 82 players, plus additional space for cots. You will need to bring your own bedding for all the bed options.

WILL I HAVE A BED AS A NEW PLAYER?

We reserve sleeping space for New Players in Cabin C and make it a priority to ensure sure you get a bed at your first game. You will need to bring your own bedding/a sleeping bag as well as any toiletries and other items you need for overnight camping.

WHAT IF I NEED UNINTERRUPTED SLEEP FOR MEDICAL REASONS?

If you need uninterrupted sleep for medical reasons please bring a doctor's note and/or contact our directors at Dystopiarising.Newmexico@gmail.com to arrange sleeping space. You’ll sleep in a designated med-sleep space which is not attacked at night.

PRE-REG DOESN'T SEEM TO BE OPEN! WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?

If pre-reg is sold out or doesn't seem to be available, it's likely because it's after the Monday before game. Pre-reg closes the Monday before game so that our coordination director has time to print out sheets and assemble pre-reg packets.

CAN I PRE-REG AS A NEW PLAYER?

You can indeed pay before game as a new player, please use the new player option as this will go through the items needed to create your character.

SHOULD I BRING A FLASHLIGHT?

Any flashlight you bring should have a red gel on it so that the light itself is red. This helps prevent ruining your own (or someone else's) night vision.

ARE THERE CERTAIN STRAINS I CAN'T PLAY?

Not all Strains are available for play at Dystopia Rising: New Mexico, and some are restricted. Check out our Strain Restrictions page for full information.

SHOULD I EXPECT ATTACKS AT NIGHT?

Dystopia Rising is a fully-immersive, horror survival game, which means that there may be times at night when zombies, mass murderers, and/or other creatures may attack.

HOW MUCH ROLEPLAY IS INVOLVED IN THIS GAME?

Dystopia Rising is a fully immersive game, which means that from game on to game off you'll BE the alternate persona that you create. We encourage everyone to remain in character at all times which means that discussions about the latest episode of Game of Thrones should wait until after the game is over.

If you need a break, you can absolutely head off site without any issue.

WHAT DO I DO FOR MY NON-PLAYER CHARACTER (NPC) BLOCK?

Each and every player does an NPC block, where they're given roles to act out in the world. You may be put into makeup to be a zombie, or you may be a person interacting in the world.

Before your NPC block, get changed into black clothing that's not your character's clothing. Leave your boffer weapons and character costuming under your sleep space or put a dark cloth over it to mark it as out-of-game while you're on your NPC block. Then head over to ops (we'll show you where that is!) with the out-of-game symbol (one hand on top of your head) or in a green headband (which is another out-of-game symbol). When you arrive, you'll be told what you're doing.

IS THERE CELL SERVICE?

CAN I BRING MY DOG?

No.  No matter how well behaved your pooch is, that doesn't mean everyone's pooch is well behaved.  We are contractually agreed with our site that no dogs/animals will be brought to their property by us/our players. Please leave your dog at home.

CAN I SMOKE ON SITE?

No, Bishop’s Ridge is a Smoke Free Site. No Cigarettes, Cigars, Pipes or Hookahs that produce ash.

SNAKES, BEARS AND NEW MEXICO WILDLIFE -

Bishop’s Ridge occasionally has visitors in the form of wildlife. We strongly encourage you to not engage with them. The Lodge kitchen has a large walk in refrigerator for food storage, we encourage everyone to utilize this as a safe way to store your food and discourage wildlife from coming to you.

WHAT DO I DO IF I NEED TO LEAVE EARLY?

Come to logistics, and we will get you a cleaning shift and walk you through getting off site early.

HOW FAR AWAY ARE THE AIRPORTS IN SANTA FE AND ALBUQUERQUE?

Santa Fe Municipal Airport, located at 121 Aviation Dr, Santa Fe, NM 87507,  is 20 miles from site. Drive time is 27 minutes.

Albuquerque International Sunport, located at 2200 Sunport Blvd, Albuquerque, NM 87106, is 70 miles from site. Drive time is 1 hour and 6 minutes.

WHAT IS CAMP CLEAN UP?

Our goal is to leave our site in the same condition it was when we arrived. That is why we have both a cabin clean up and a campsite clean up for everyone.

Cabin Clean up -

For this you will clean up the area you stayed in, this goes for both tents and cabins. Depending on where you stay depends on the clean up. Cabins will have a checklist of what needs to be done for the clean up to be finished. Tent area will need to be cleared of everyone's camping gear and a walk through done to clear any props, trash and packets. We will have Marshals in all areas to answer any question and help with cleanup. Marshals will sign off on you character sheets once this is complete.

Campsite Clean up -

Once your group has completed the Cabin Clean up you will all head to the  Roadhouse to be assigned an area of the camp to clean. Campsite clean up consents of walking the trails or areas of the camp and ensuring it is free of props, trash and packets. We will have Marshals walk the areas to answer any question and help with cleanup. Marshals will sign off on you character sheets once this is complete.

Once all signatures have been placed on character sheets you will return to the back porch of the Roadhouse and give your character sheet to the Director. Character sheet will be checked for both signature, and later entered into the database.

If you like head out to Afters, or go grab a bite to eat with other players. This is a great chance to get to know the person more than the character.

ARE THERE SHOWERS AND FLUSHING TOILETS?

Yes! 4 of  the cabins feature bathrooms, the roadhouse has bathrooms located in the entry hallway, and there are 2 large bathhouses with showers and flushing toilets.

WHAT DO I DO FOR FOOD?

We do not provide food, so make sure to bring enough for the weekend. When packing food, consider what looks "genre" for the apocalypse. Get rid of packages and wrappers ahead of time and use cans, jars, paper bags, and other materials to disguise modern food. To use the kitchen on site you will need to have a New Mexico Food Handler Certification, Microwaves are open for use.

WHERE DO I COOK MY OWN FOOD?

The Big Lodge Kitchen requires a New Mexico Food Handlers Card to use. Copies of Cards must be submitted prior to use of the kitchen. There are plenty of microwaves and tons of room for crock pots, though, as a highly recommended option.

CAN I HAVE FOOD ANYWHERE ON SITE?

We ask the food be kept to the Big Lodge Kitchen Cabinets and Refrigerator. Snacks are good to have anywhere, but please keep in mind there is wildlife in the area and they like your food, too.

Please note that these are just some of the more-commonly asked questions. If you have other questions, please email Dystopiarising.Newmexico@gmail.com
